Vegetarian Restaurant Review – Veggie World, Milton Keynes UK

Veggie World is one of my favourite oriental veggie restaurants. The food here will knock your socks off, particularly as when you enter it does not make you think you’re going to have an incredible dining experience. That’s not to say the décor is shabby or the place is dirty – quite the opposite, it is smart and well-laid out, the lighting is good and everything is polished and appealing. It’s just that the décor is nothing special, whereas the food is absolutely amazing!

First up, the menu is alcohol free so don’t go there expecting to drink. But that shouldn’t matter because it really is about the food. Veggie world has a vegetarian version of almost every Chinese food you have heard of and some new ones too. Try starting with the incredible crispy aromatic (veggie) duck, something which I thought would taste like every other meat substitute but instead crumbled in my mouth to reveal some incredible tastes. Next up I had a vegetarian stir fry, something that again, in most places can taste mundane and ordinary but here arrived in front of me still sizzling and with the smell of the noodles and vegetables on the plate jumping straight up my nostrils. The taste of the vegetables was direct and fresh, and the noodles were cooked just the right side of crispy.

My dining partner had the vegetable chow mein which got some serious nods of approval and also tried a side serving of vegetarian prawns which she said were better than the real thing.

No more searching for the veggie dishes in your local Chinese restaurant, this place is the vegetarian real deal. With friendly staff and friendly prices this is a place I will be returning to regularly.
